Pinball Boy Early Launch Stats!

Well, the site has been up and running for exactly two weeks as of yesterday, and I couldn't be happier with the response so far! Above you'll find a graphic which includes the exact numbers the site has seen so far (along with a little feature of the first designs I've posted).

There are a few things to note here...

  1. When I started the site, I absolutely was not expecting these kinds of stats - no joke, I was going to be excited if 100 people ended up at the site in the first week. Obviously, you all blew my expectations out of the water!
  2. Some people may find it odd that I'm even sharing this info. To give you some insight though, if you go look at my music career, you'll see that I've always been extremely transparent with numbers and stats. I'm not sure why, but I just feel like I'm in this together with the people who allow me to create... So I like sharing these things that get me stoked on what I do.
  3. One thing I left off the infographic is something I'm also excited about. So far, in just 14 days, I've somehow managed to get 38 rule card sets posted! I say that not to brag, but as a credit to all of you who have kept me so constantly thrilled to be adding new designs as often as possible. And that's all been done in my free time (which I don't have much of - I do have a day job, and a two-year old, ya know!). As things progress here, I plan to dedicate even more time to the site to make it much much better.
  4. A sincere thanks goes out to those who have sent in donations. I've mentioned that I'm 100% glad to offer these designs and this site for free, and I whole-heartedly mean that - I will NEVER tell you all to donate, or care any less about those who don't. However, the donations are chipping away at the site costs already, and that's helping a ton!
  5. This is still all for the "soft" launch of the site! I've still been working from the shadows on all the other pieces I plan to add to PinballBoy. I'm hoping to have an "Official Launch" date ready to share with you all soon. I know I keep talking about it, and not sharing specifics, but I promise it's all going to be additions to the site and pinball community that I hope will be fun and put some smiles on some faces.

Lastly, come on, if you've been paying attention to these blog posts, you knew this was coming... THANK YOU! I can't stress how much creating this site and the designs, and giving back to the pinball world has honestly become one of the best parts of my day. I love this stuff, man! Seriously, this was all on a whim - I thought there was a large chance people would actually hate my designs since they're so different from a lot of what people are used to! So thanks again!

Until next time,
Chad

To LE, or Not to LE.

Man, I don't think I've ever made a pun as bad as the title for this post. Ha. Just wanted to make a note that up to now I've made three card sets specifically for LE (Limited Edition) versions of machines (The Rolling Stones, Mustang, X-Men). Well, now people are asking for standard versions of those cards - and actually I meant to post Pro versions alongside the LE from the beginning, but kind of just forgot. So, from here on out, I'll post both versions at the same time when the opportunity arises.

For now, I've just added non-LE versions of The Rolling Stones, and Mustang for those wanting them! Enjoy!

Until next time,
Chad

P.S. - I plan on posting a cool little update to let you all see how awesome the site's doing so far thanks to all of you visiting - sometime tonight or tomorrow.

Size Does Matter.

Okay, this has now happened twice with machines from the pre-2000s era... See, when I'm designing, I choose card sizing from an excellent list that someone compiled for a large group of pinball machines from all eras. The thing I'm finding though, is while it is a great list, I don't believe it's 100% correct 100% of the time.

Anyway, I believe I've found the correct sizing for this certain era of pins that this issue popped up in (so hopefully we can avoid any errors from here on out). However, if you ever go to print a set of cards, and they don't fit right (they're noticeably too small, or too big)... Please feel free to get in touch and let me know! My goal here is not only nicely designed rule cards, but also making sure they look good on your machines! I don't want you having to use cards of mine that need a 1/4 inch white border around them to fit, or vice versa.

And like I said, this has only happened a couple of times, and I've completely switched out new correct design sizes asap both times. Also, it's only happened on older pins (where info isn't necessarily super-abundant around the web anyway). So with newer pins, you won't have to worry, but if you ever print off a set for a classy retro pin of yours and things are a bit off - let me know! I'm very very glad to make sure these cards are as perfect as possible for you and everyone else.

Until next time,
Chad

P.S. - For anyone wondering, the two sets this happened on where Bally - Dr. Dude, and Who Dunnit? - So if you printed them and wondered if they seemed a little off, you were right! Both have been fixed with new correct sizing!
